Honeymooning couple Tony and Sara from the Netherlands walked the back track on Saturday night and saw and photographed a kiwi on the track. They told Claire it was the highlight of their NZ trip.

Garry Hopping from Cambridge was here in January, went outside about 11.30pm and there was a kiwi in the bark next to the bunkroom. First time he has seen a kiwi in its natural habitat!

Coming home at 2am (after watching the All Blacks lose and feeling quite sad, worrying that I have to go Busby Trapping early in the morning) saw a beautiful, fat healthy looking kiwi about 20 metres from our door. This made me think I don’t mind doing my pest trapping in the morning if this is what happens.
